ABOUT IN THE KNOW
In The Know is an award-winning mental health literacy program designed specifically for farmers, their families, and agricultural workers. It provides tools to recognize, understand, and respond to mental health challenges, using real farm scenarios to make the information relatable and actionable.
In the Know is designed for anyone in the agricultural community, including:
- Farmers
- Family members of farmers
- Agricultural workers
- Agribusiness professionals
- Community members who want to support mental health in agriculture
Farmers and agricultural workers face unique stressors such as unpredictable weather, market fluctuations, long working hours, and isolation. In The Know addresses these challenges by tailoring content specifically to the realities of life in agriculture.
This program is 100% free thanks to our amazing partners in farm mental health.
HOW IT WORKS
Each workshop is interactive, with discussions, real-life farm examples, and practical strategies for identifying and addressing mental health challenges. The goal is to create a safe space for participants to learn, share, and connect.
Workshops are four hours long, with breaks and time for group discussions.
Workshops can be held:
- In-person at community centres, agricultural offices, or other local venues.
- Online through virtual sessions to accommodate participants in remote areas.
No preparation is needed. Just come ready to learn, engage, and participate in discussions.
You can request a workshop at anytime directly by visiting ccaw.ca/in-the-know. A member of our team will reach out to finalize your workshop within seven business days.
Regularly check in with farmers, especially those who might seem to be struggling. A simple conversation can make a significant difference.
Educate yourself about the agricultural industry and become an advocate for farmers. Your support can help raise awareness and drive positive change within the community. You can also spread awareness of our programs and resources.
Consider partnering with the Canadian Centre of Agriculture Wellbeing. Your contributions enable us to continue to do the research and develop programs to support farmers’ mental health and wellbeing across Canada.
