BUILDING FARM MENTAL HEALTH WITH FARMERS

IN THE KNOW

We’re updating In the Know, an award winning, evidenced-based agricultural literacy workshop. This was created and evaluated by the CCAW team, and we’re working to ensure it’s adopted across the country through several organizations. This update will focus on bringing mental health literacy to the postsecondary setting, providing preventative support to the industry.

CATASTROPHIC EVENT TOOLKITS

We’re working with partners in agriculture to ensure that farmers get the mental health support they need when crisis hits the farm. And this support starts with professionals who are meeting farmers where they are during those tough times. We’re developing living toolkits to strengthen on-the-ground responses for farmers when they need it most.

NATIONAL FARMER WELLNESS PROGRAM

We’re launching something that’s going to change the way we approach farm mental health in Canada. It starts with connecting farmers across Canada to farm-tailored services, including counsellors that have been vetted and trained in our evidence informed ag-literacy training.

CANADIAN AG LITERACY

We’re establishing an evidence-based farmer-focused curriculum and education program for counsellors, therapists and social workers for mental health professionals who are supporting those working within Canadian agriculture. This program is currently in it’s first pilot and will be available to mental health professionals across the country to ensure they are able to provide safe supports for farmers.
